This isnt really new news I am afraid. I bought Reilly an ex racer I used for point to point at auction and was bidding against a dealer from Belgium back in 1982. He was destined for the meat hook and similarly Chester an Irish Draught x thoroughbred who didnt quite make the grade with the Household Cavalry I bought at the same auction a couple of years later, again I was bidding against a dealer from Belgium.

We watched a DVD about this in our welfare lesson at college - even one of the Queen's ex-racehorses was found in Belguim in appalling conditions. However, its not all bad - check out

would rather hear that horses are slaughtered here than sold on and transported live in awful conditions to end up in the same place, personally!
