Any hints

Re: EV visit - help!

You should receive an inventory just beforehand with a list of things they want to look at and a schedule. They will want to have a look around the practice and check paperwork, health and safety, local rules etc. Speak to each clinical coach/student. Check training records, tutorial records, clinical coach meetings, service records.

We had one not long back, and we are far from perfect, but all went well, and they offerred advice etc.

Try not to worry, they are just making sure that your I/V is doing things right, they will be there too.

Re: EV visit - help!

Just keep your cool and carry on as normal.

I had to assess a student whilst I was being assessed by my IV who was in turn being assessed by the EV. Turned out I had to stop and put that the student was incompetent in the task for the first time ever out of all the others I had assessed! Slightly more stressful than a nice easy one, but at least showed I/we were doing it properly!!!

Re: EV visit - help!

Dont stress EV is just assessing IV so just do your normal thing!

Re: EV visit - help!

Don't worry the EV is checking that the IV has done her job. If anythings missing the IV should have picked it out so you'll just get asked to sort it.

Make sure your paperwork is all up to date with each student. So all the certificates etc. They usually check all your health and safety stuff at work. They check you've got SOP's in the right places and check your time that you're giving your student is correct.

My last one involved me doing an assessment on a student which the IV checked me on also. The IV was being monitored by the EV. It was short and sweet. The time goes really quickly, just make sure you have a place to sit down and do the paperwork and that it's all there ready, which might require getting a few photocopies. I remember one of the thing they like to check is the students enrolment certificate. Can't remember much else.
