I got my dog, Sammy collie/lab cross as she was a stray. She used to be around the nursing home where my mother in law worked and she followed her home one night. I asked mum could I have her and she said no way so I would bring food up to (then boyfriends house) to feed her.

However, one saturday night mum said I could bring her home but had to get her another home by the tuesday, I did bring her home and 11 years later she is still here! Though she lives with me since I got married which is right beside home.

I suppose just do what I done - keep working on your parents and begging!! lol

aww thats soo sweet.. no i wouldnt get a dog in secret lol wouldnt b v fair lol i do live at home still as im only 20 lol.. jus dno how 2 go bout it my mums ok she wudnt mind but just dad lol hmm thanks 4 the input.. :)

When I 14 I got my first pet - a wonderful border collie!

My parents were not at all animal people, but they agreed to let me get her, on the premise that she continued to live at the farm where she was bred. Farmer agreed (I worked there voluntarily) so I became the proud owner of pooch. Come Christmas day, she came home with me for 24 hours so I wouldn't have to go up to the farm... she never went back! She won my parents over with her puppy antics lol!

Not much constructive advice I'm afraid, but just to let you know that parents do occasionally cave in! And they were soooo right to do so in my case - the whole family cried and mourned when pooch passed - she was one of the family, and even my parents now admit (over 15 years later) that it was the right decision to let me get her.

I wouldn't advise getting a pet in secret though, if you still live at home - will just lead to strife
