Has anyone had this? Did it work? and can you get it on the NHS?

I have had a course of cbt and found it very good.

I still have ups and downs, but that's life and as I refuse to use medication (which I am told I have a chemical imbalance so should so really) it was the best option for me. I can't remember alot about it to be honest as I had alot going on at the time, but as I no longer do the self destructive things I used to I believe it worked!

I was lucky though, as my issues had been going on for years and my dad sat me down one day and had a long chat and offered to pay for me to go private as he was worried about me. I had been reffered for councelling by my GP on a number of occasions, but found it rubbish. One counseller saw me on 2 occasions and when I went to the second appointment asked me if I had ever seen anyone before!! I was like, yes - you! Didn't go back after that as thought if she couldn't be bothered to read my notes then I couldn't be bothered to go.

Bascially, I suppose I am saying yes it can be great but needs to be with the right person and you will know that within 5 mins of starting the session.

It did help, but mostly my Hypothyriod meds were too low which wasn't helping.

Just the 2 hour assessment helped, knowing someone was taking you seriously. Go see your GP.

Re: cognitive behavioural therapy

Have you looked at the Vetlife website?
