Send me your email address and I'll add you to the mailing list :) Just so you have an idea, if you look on a map, Sunbury is 30 mins to Woodend...and the traffic gets worse as you get closer to Melb, but you will be driving against it. Feel free to run any areas your looking at for accommodation and I'll try to give you the heads up.

Well im more in to the city lifestyle - so it will be a culture shock LOL, but for sponsorship and a head nurse job i can do it. Hope to gt myself a car so i can drive to work - then i can live closer to the city =)

YAY - will def look up the nurses conference, be a good chance for me to make some friends!!!

I havn't been to the practise but we sometimes get referrals at the Uni from there. You'll be north west of the city, a fair way out but a lot of nice spots to go hiking, mountain biking or whatever if your into it! They are moving into a new building so that will be fantastic! And as it is out of the city you will probably see some cool cases. Again, congratulations! You will have to pencil in to come to the Uni vet nurse conference in November!

Its just outside melbourne in a little villagey place called woodend. Im just doing som investigation into living there. I never got to melbourne on my travels so i hope i like it!

I contacted Sydney Uni when the jobs where advertised a few weeks back - but they said at this stage they are only interested in nurses who have the right to work in Australia at the time of application..... This is hard work. Im a good nurse, just need someone to realise that and sponsor me!

Sydney Uni were recently advertising for a permanat ICU nurse... the pay was well above award so would make you eligable for Sub Class 457. The recent changes in the visa have made it far easier for employers to sponsor nurses so its worth a try!

I have family in the south Island, so would be super convinient to go there, but with my bf being in I.T, the jobs for him are in the citys. Best chance is the biggest city - but any help would be more than appreciated!

Gosh i would love to work for Sydney Uni - but the when i contacted them when i was on my working holiday visa i wouldnt be elidgable for a job as i couldnt commit (due to visa reasons) to the 2year contract.

I have tried the partner de-facto visa - but even with my partner of 2 years its a no go atm, which is why im trying NZ as we can both live there happily for 23months - and then the visa will be a big go to Oz i hope :)

Just hope i ca get a job in Auckland......

Kookaburra doesn't charge, you can identify clinics and go straight to them. Seek.com.au doesn't have much on it when it comes to VN work and not very up to date. Sydney uni pays well (or any uni for that matter), they regularly advertise, but a bit more expensive to live there...

You need to keep your eye on www.seek.com.au.

The best thing to do is approach practices independantly, dont go through an agency as the employer sponsorship visa (subclass 457) is 3.5-4 thousand AUD and most employers would be reluctant to pay out that in addition to paying the agencies finders fee's.

It is difficult as to be eligable for the visa you need to be offerred a job earning more than $47,480.00 AUD (30,389.35 GBP) which as we all know is wishful thinking for VN's. That threshold doesnt count if you are applying for a job in the sticks somewhere in WA, NT or the country somewhere as they have a different criteria owing to how difficult it is to get staff in those areas and the lower cost of living.

Work in NZ is tricky too as they have some very good nurses there, a different type of training and don't often need to look elsewhere but is easier if you go on a Working Holiday Visa.

Other option is spouse/partner visa but I assume you've looked into that already.

Hi guys, i am registered with the Ausralian branch of Carlton Professional, and use kookaburra to send CV's to clincs.

Even thought Vet nurses are on the skills list now, i still seem to be hitting a brick wall

Try kookaburravets.com they are and Australian agency, also have a branch in the UK and have jobs in NZ on their site, you don't have to join up or pay anything. I am in Australia.

Might be worth contacting Carlton Professional as I looked into this a little while back, and they have quite a few Aus/NZ clinics looking for QVNs and some would sponsor.
