snap, i was never a A1, but now a CC. Think Iv got the hang of it , however I got told we were putting too much info in it! I got some really helpful info from my IV which I can pass on if you PM me if interested

i was a CC in my last practice and hadn't been an A1 previously. I asked my student written questions based on elements she was shaky of which then went in her evidence file. she found it really helpful.

i was quite daunted especially as my student was a second year but I refused to sign anything off if i had even the slightest doubt or could think of another scenario that would occur fairly regularly that she hadn't yet included: i.e. she asked for setting up theatre- getting correct instruments for the procedure but I refused on the grounds that there was no evidence of setting up for a non routine procedure and stated that she had to set up for a big ex lap such as a pyo or spleenectomy and an orthopaedic repair

We used to use CAW as our VNAC but have since transferred to another college who aren't as supportive and can be really hard to get hold of.

If I ever had problems when I was an A1 I would just call or e-mail the I/V (Jackie Samsom) who was very helpful. They are there to help you after all and should always be available to offer advice.

Are there any other CC's in your practice you could ask for advice from?

You could email Tamsin at the CAW as she is very good and will be able to give you guidence if you cant speak to your IV

It's just a bit scary really! Especially never having been an assessor before, so it's all so new!

My VNAC is college of animal welfare, so I will give them a call later and try to speak to someone!

Hi, I was a bit worried about it, have been an assessor for 6 + years, and was finding it a bit daunting. I like to be able to ask questions like you could on the old portfolio. I know I can ask verbal questions and write the answers in the comments. If you contact your IV or whatever they are called now then they should be willing to help. Which college is your VNAC?
