I currently work in a high quality referral TP, owned by a large corporate company. I am 35, single, with two children. I have been desparate to get into VN for 10y following the completion of a ND in 2001

Re: Funding the VN training
Are you near a uni that offers the Fd or BSc course? That way you could train and get funding through student finance. They might also give you a grant for your kids that you don't have to re-pay (depending on your circumstances). You won't get a wage though, just a student loan. There's a calculator on the student finance website so you could estimate how much they'll give you each year.
In terms of grans that you may be entitled to. If you have a Partner on a low income the money available is quite good. Theres 3 grants you may be entitled to would be a Speacil Support Grant - This means that the amount of maintienence loan you get is not reduced compared to if you got the standard maintainence grant, Child care grants, and Parents learning allowance. It all goes on household income but aslong as your partners income is below £51k then you are entitled to something.

A good link about funding if you were to consider the degree.

You've got loads of experience and motivation, plus your GCSE's might not be a prob cos you'd be a mature student and you've got an animal science HNC.

The only poss prob is that the deadline for applications was in Jan so you might not get started this year if that's what you decide to do, although sometimes late people get places through clearing.

Its not impossible - I'm 40, have 5 kids and am starting the degree course this Sept (when I've decided which uni!!!!).

Good luck :-)
