I too suffered from headaches in early pregnancy but luckily they did get much better as time passes and I haven't had any since around christmas time, I'm 30 weeks now. So hopefully yours will get better too as time progresses.

Thank you x

I assume that it is as I was perscribed it!! Will find out in the next 7 days.

I know what you mean about just being happy to be pregnant as it was a long, hard journey for me, but I can honestly say that I have hated every moment of being pregnant! Am excited to meet bump and really appricate that after a alot of up and downs I finally managed to get pregnant, but there is only so much one can put up with!! I was being so sick with morning sickness and migraines that I burst lots of capillaries (spelling! sorry) around my eyes and looked awful. I had being trying so long and being off the pill was meaning that I was in bed with migraines for a least 2 days a cycle and I was starting to wonder is I could continue much longer - even though I really wanted to get pregnant.

I would def go to the docs as well as getting your blood pressure checked. Some midwifes are great (mines a bit up and down, but my aunty is a midwife so I generally ask her for advice) but they don't always know what medication you can take and not. I am lucky in that the reason I was 'asigned' to my particular GP is because he has a particular interest in migraines and know's alot about various treatments and is happy to try new things.

Re: How can I shift these headaches!!
Got my blood pressure checked last week at midwife and it was fine.. mind you i didnt have a headache at the time, but I'm seeing her again today - can blood pressure fluctuate throughout the day?? I shouldn't really complain about it, I'm just greatful to be pregnant.. but there is only so much headaches one can take! lol - For the first time in a long time i've woken up today with no throb in my head

I really didnt enjoy the effects of pregnancy very much at all. I was always nearly passing out, headaches, feeling sick, and im not the type of person that likes being messed with too much. I got more headaches and felt sick if i let myself get too hungry and thirsty, so snacking on cereal bars and sipping water helped a little.

As you will know, you soon forget all about it, my little girl is 19 months old now, and i would like another.

Re: How can I shift these headaches!!

Got my blood pressure checked last week at midwife and it was fine.. mind you i didnt have a headache at the time, but I'm seeing her again today - can blood pressure fluctuate throughout the day??
how is your blood pressure - my sister had horrendous headaches with each pregnancy, and she also had very high blood pressure - when her BP was down the headaches went.
I'd second getting this checked out. At 30 weeks into my pregnancy I started getting ear splitting head aches, which turned out to be due to a very high BP. They were throbbing, pounding headaches if you know what I mean?

In my case it ended up being pre eclampsia, but they did try meds first to bring down my BP, which helped for a while.

I'd see your GP tomorrow - hope you feel better soon xx

My doctor seemed to think that once I got pregnant then my migraines would stop but unfortunatley during the first 16 weeks not only did I have terrible morning, afternoon, evening etc sickness (even spraying body spray or deodrant setting me off vomiting) I also had migraines. My doctor perscribed me some effervescent co-codamol, anti sickness tablets and the topical forehead stick. Nothing worked completely, but did help a little - I would go to your doctor and see what he says, he might be able to give you something. Touch wood, since 16 - 19 weeks I haven't had any migraines, so they might stop when your hormones settle down. There is also a migraine clinic in London (can't remember what it's called off hand but has a web site with a purple door!!) and they have lots of info and tips.

I am 39 weeks and due in the next 10 days (scarey!!) and just hoping that my regular monthly migraines don't come back once I have given birth!

Re: How can I shift these headaches!!

P.S.
My baby's 10 weeks old but about 3 months into my pregnancy I suffered head splitting head aches. Almost like migraines but without the throwing up (luckily for me!). I was going spare with them. I had a particularly bad one and thought about what I'd eaten during the day - cheese sarnie for lunch and pizza for dinner. CHEESE!!! I cut out cheese for the whole of the rest of my pregnancy and didn't get another head ache!! Am eating it again happily now though - thank God as I LOVE the stuff!! lol. Just my experience, but try a food diary to see of there are any links. Good luck!!
