After 23 years in veterinary pratice, I have decided to move on too. I have been accepted onto the ODP course and will be starting in April - its scary. My course is for 3 years so I'll be 42 when I qualify!! Good luck for your interview Maisy

Congratulations! Will be a great step to take - lots of students are older than the 'usual' 18-21 year olds so nothing to worry about there.

I am also hopefully in the process of retraining outside the VN world, I have a uni interview to study for the Operating Department Practitioner HE Diploma tomorrow, eeek! I'll also be 32 if I manage to start in September and qualify in two years!

loving all the positive responses everyone

I'll still be coming on here every now and again and will hopefully do the odd bit of emergency nursing at weekends to keep my skills up to date and also to help pay my way through this as I have to pay my first years tuition fees myself

Stop making me feel old

I'm 44 and studying BSc Animal Welfare at present while still waiting to sell my cattery so that I can (don't laugh) train to become a VN.

Age has its benefits as you are more motivated and organised with your time, and more realistic what you can do.

I'm currently 31 and studying a FdSc. Planning on going on to study for a full degree afterwards!!! Never too old to learn something new. Am finding the whole learning process a lot easier than when I was younger

Congratulations!!! I am in the middle of a zoology degree and I am 32 now!! It makes it MUCH easier being older!! You'll be so much more focused and dedicated!

Well done!! I used to want to do forensics - really interesting work!! I remember when my friends were all doing retail work exPerience at school and I was at the local coroners office!
