Presuming you don't qualify: If they are happy to let you carry out stuff like placing i/v, taking bloods etc.. then anything that goes wrong comes back on the practice not you as your not qualified - regardless of title, as long as your good at your job and you enjoy it!

the rcvs have told me id have to sign off from study for a year, take a years break from study, and its taken me 4 and a half years to get this far, im 47 and ive had enough now of studying, its taken over my whole life and not willing to let it any more, dont get me wrong, i love my job and have worked hard to get this far but im tired now, and continue to fail cos of nerves and just miss it by a few marks each time too, i know this is all premature as not yet taken it, but just wandering , what my position would be if the practise says it wont matter!! nhopefully it will all be fine and ill have my green uniform but trying to prepare mmyself too, just in case
Aww - You need to be more positive - the most nerve wracking part of qualifying is definitely the practicals! You've passed that! Waheey! Thats the bit most people get stuck on!

So you just have the paper 2, between you and your greens. No worries, I bet you know it all with your eyes closed and your hands tied behind your back. And remember that - you already know it - don't get stressed, you have far longer than is needed to do it, and you'll be in a relatively chilled place (Driving theory places are better than the hall full of wooden desks I had to endure in my first year exams!)

Its multiple choice, and they give you enough time to work on a process of elimination - most of the questions its easy to eliminate the wrong answers - can be harder if your mindset is to pick the right one.

Go with your first instincts, try not to panic, or get stressed about the event, and just remember - you know it! You're gonna pass!

Re: well???

the rcvs have told me id have to sign off from study for a year, take a years break from study, and its taken me 4 and a half years to get this far, im 47 and ive had enough now of studying, its taken over my whole life and not willing to let it any more, dont get me wrong, i love my job and have worked hard to get this far but im tired now, and continue to fail cos of nerves and just miss it by a few marks each time too, i know this is all premature as not yet taken it, but just wandering , what my position would be if the practise says it wont matter!! nhopefully it will all be fine and ill have my green uniform but trying to prepare mmyself too, just in case

Re: well???
Who has told you you have to wait a year? The RCVS?

And, no offence meant, but why are you not willing to re-enroll, go to college again etc?

I had to do it! For very different reasons mind, but I did it, and I'm glad I did, as finally got to qualify!

She is now an auxillary nurse, they did let her carry on for a while doing the things like medicating, placing i/vs etc but then realised i think the trouble they could get in for allowing that to carry on so now she cleans kennels and packs kits etc all the things an auxillary nurse does.

She found it hard at first, but now shes quite happy in her job, good luck with your exam and fingers crossed you'll pass but at least if you dont your job is safe

Re: well???

who knows? its been discussed so many times already and nothing satisfactory came from it

Could you not re-enroll with the RCVS and keep asking for special permission? Admittedly perhaps having to go through L3 college again?

I'm sorry, I really don't know, but if you decide not to keep fighting to qualify (again not sure if this is a possibility or not), and if not enrolled with the RCVS, then unfortunatley, your title will be auxiliary nurse or the equivalent.

Have you asked the RCVS if you can sit again?

Of course this is all if you fail - chin up lass! You'll probably pass and be laughing at this thread in a few months
