The RCVS has issued a prompt about getting CPD in and I wondered if anyone had any experiences or thoughts on the issue....

The College is concerned about the amount of CPD undertaken by registered VNs working outside of regular practice

Re: Non-clincal VNs/locums and CPD

Hey Emma,

I'm a locum, I am having to pay for CPD myself. There are a lot of free CPD courses around my area at the moment, which helps a lot. So far I have been on 3 free night lectures which have come to 5.5hrs. Dont forget that if a rep comes to talk to you that also counts as CPD.

BSAVA congress is also a good way of gaining your yearly minimum hours (15) in one go and is only £126 for the 4 days. As I am self emplyod I can claim this back.

I think that the compulsory CPD is a good thing as a few nurses I have worked with did nothing. It is a way of proving you are making an effort. I feel that M.O.P's should be made aware of the training and skill needed to be a VN.

Sorry, rant over!!
