I was just curious of all your opinions. What level of experience do you think you need to solely work nights? Who has worked nights? What was their experiences good and bad. I have always wanted to work nights, just nights no day time but wondered

Re: Working nights!

Personally I think you need to a reaosnable amount of experience as you need to be able to notice slight differences in inpatients andf be able to deal with complex cases under presssure as lets face it, it is mainly life threatening or complicated cases which present in the middle of the night. So an ability to stay calm , work under pressure and use own initiative essential, also a good capability to i/v catheterise etc on own I feel is essential.

Of course it depends on the situation for your night work.....when I worked nights I loved it but was sole person in the hospital so if something arrived before the vet or there was a complication with an inpatient that needed action immediately the responsibility was yours..
