After what seems like a million years, I have eventually managed to get the vet/non-vet behaviourist paradox regarding whether or not clients are charged an excess on behaviour claims sorted with Petplan.

I cross posted thw above letter from another forum with permission from the author. Unfortunately, Petplan have now done an about turn and decided to charge an excess on all behaviour claims as they will now be treated as medicine. Sorry, I had forgotten to update this when I found out (only about two weeks ago). It has caused a bit of a stir given their previous advice!

Re: Important info regarding behaviourists and petplan

Well done you for getting them to listen!!

How comes a excess isn't charged for complimentary treatments then when it is for vets fees?

Re: Important info regarding behaviourists and petplan

thanks for making us aware of this as i have never heard this before, i have printed it off to show our HVN for future reference as we use petplan a lot and have a vet referred bahaviourist who comes in, good to know we may be able to save our clients some money the insurance company would otherwise take from them!
