Honest! Had to double check just to be sure.. it says (got in here!):

"After one month the employee is entitled to one weeks notice for the first 2yrs in employment, and after that an extra week for each year up to a maximum of 12 weeks after 12 years"

- Then it has examples like more than 3yrs but less than 4yrs = 3wks notice.. and so on.. I think 12weeks notice is far too long anyway.. if I found my dream job they might not want to wait 3 months for me!

That reads to me as notice that the employer has to give you if making you redundant not you giving notice

Just make sure you're not mixing up 'notice of termination of employment' with you resigning. The first relates to you being laid off, such as if the practice down-sized and you were no longer needed. It is the notice your employer has to give you.

Wish this was the norm! We don't sick pay what so ever - unless we are off for 3 days or more, then its SSP! Sounds like not many nurses at all get paid for 1st 3 days, so I wouldn't complain

I don't get paid for first three days of sickness and then it goes onto statutary sick pay.

I am also the main wage earner and currently working with a suspected cracked ankle as can't afford to be off and the hours I work means I can't get to the doctors. if I get an appointment I lose at least 2 hours money plus waiting in the doctors as I work an hour away. One days wage pays for 6 days petrol so when I couldn't get in with the snow, I'm borrowing money off my in-laws to get in now.

We do not receive sick pay either, just the statutory sick pay if you are off for a week or more I think.

And a months notice for nurses and receptionists, our vets have to give 2 months notice

Sound right. Don't think you have to offer any sick pay. The one week per year worked is right and it works the other way round too.

we dont get paid if we are off sick, if its more than 3 days we have to provide a sick note from docs, then its the stat sick pay, i couldnt afford one day off sick, so ill or not i have to go into work, as for notice i was under the impression it was down to pay , we get paid monthly so have to give a months notice.
