I understand what your saying by pulling together and i agree we should, but the big bosses dont come and talk to us, it just goes through other people and its not like it was discussed with us and said 'sorry its fallen on you guys but it would be a great help if you did this..etc' i think we would have been more receptive and understood..its when you are just expected to do something and be fine with it if you see what i mean... sorry am just ranting now!

thats what i had thought to do- see if i can come up with other solutions and put it to them and see what they say. Its going to be trying to fit 7 people onto a four week rota with two on each weekend... i will rack my brains and hopefully come up with something!

Re: rotas
hi all,

just wondered if anyone knew where we stand with rota changes?

Our bosses want to change ours from 1 in 4 weekends to 1 in 3, for no payrise, no cost of living increase - basically no benefit to the nurses, (it works out we will be doing slightly les hours, so in their eyes that is a payrise!!) because the practice isnt doing greatly.

None of the nurses are happy about this and dont want to be doing more weekends because weekends are precious when other friends (non-nursey types) only get weekends off. We would be getting time off in the week to make up..but thats not particularly what we want.

Its bad enough when you dont feel appreciated at the best of times, but when a rota change is expected to help them out...hmmm...

Just wondered what other people thought- are they allowed to do this?

Thanks x
depends on what your contract says really.

Only you will know if you work for a fair practice or not - but if it has previously been a fair practice and isnt doing quite so well at the moment then maybe these measures have been adopted to cause the least impact on all staff members? maybe other options would be a lot less palatable, maybe if this is upsetting all the nurses they could come up with another alternative between themselves and discuss it reasonably with the bosses. Sometimes we all just need to pull together to get out of a spot and maybe when things improve working conditions will improve with them.
