Was going to ask the same question..

Surely the vet should wait for blood tests before a sedation is given? I know all vets are different.. but still.. ..

Re: Job not worked out help!

is there a reason why sedation is given prior to PABT ? i know in my clinic we very rarely give this if its a crazy /
Well its not been long but I find that the new practice I have joined isnt what I thought it was I find that the problems there are bigger than that of the practice I left. I feel a little silly and a little disapointed! I know I need to give it time to settle in but I find that there alot of clinical things that arent being done so well. Such as PABT is taken but the animal is given its pre med before the results so I feel this is rite.

Any how what Im trying to get to is when did you/would you start locuming. Im newly qualified. I just want to find a practice where I feel comfortable where things are done. and dont want to take a permiant position and end up in the same situation.

tell me if Im wrong or any info would be great
skitty patient? or is this routine?

starting at a new clinic can be daunting. The most difficult thing is adjusting to clinic protocol and alot of nurses find this difficult. try to keep an open mind, give the clinic time and chance, if all else fails..... then its best to move on to a clinic that you prefer :)

good luck

Re: Job not worked out help!

Hiya, I left a job to go back into small animal practice, had the choice of two jobs, chose the one I preferred but only worked there for about 3 days realising that it wasn't the practice for me. I didn't know what to do and felt awful but phoned the practice manager and explained. I then was lucky that I phoned back the other job that I turned down explained and then started a week later. I know that I could of given the first job more of a chance but i knew that it wasn't really for me.

Good luck with what you decide

Re: Job not worked out help!

well there is right and wrong in every practice - and I think maybe you are just realising this? Maybe locumming wouldnt be the best move for you right now ( but might be in the future). I think before getting into locumming you need to do a bit longer in practice so you can see a few more of these differences and find a way that works for you to not accept them exactly but find a way you can work with them.

I hope everything works out for you.

Give it a bit longer it might turn into something better than it looks now?
