i went through Azebra and they were fine. I had to as where i was locumming needed it for my public liability insurance, so worth thinking about or taking out your own insurance just in case. The other option is if you get a locum at a pratice for a few months to go on their payroll then they'll do the tax etc for you.

Hey Wendy, it Boni xxx,

I went through an umbrella company when i locumed with synergyvets, i thought that was my only option for being paid by the locum agency, but i dont think you have to use the umbrella company that they "reccommend" you use. I had no obvious problems with them apart for the fact that they they deduct money from your pay to cover "admin fees"

I was still paying tax and NI - but i will have to wait until April to see if i owe anything.

I dont know if that helps any.

What about getting in touch with Diane the head nurse at the dick vet - they always need locums? then you will just get paid by the vet school.

Simple dont touch an umbrella company. You get letters from income tax to remind you. I know a vn with an umbrella company earns £20/DAY and was owed over £1000 from the company for over 6months

Self emp is very easy just get yourself organised you have a calender circle things on it for special days ask your accountat if you get one for help.

just DONT go umbrella
