Have just found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant... Very suspicious about telling people before the 12 week mark but am terrified in work now. A cat had to be masked yesterday and I just walked out of the room and came in with my breath held

Re: Pregnant - when do I tell work?

Hey thanks everyone. Yeah, will definitely go in and tell my boss in the morning. He is really nice and understanding so I'm sure all will go well. Thanks a million to all.. good to know you're all there with good advice when I need it

Re: Pregnant - when do I tell work?

Congratualtions!!!!

Tell them ASAP!!.. they need to know so they are aware of what you can/can't do.. & also do a risk assesment.. wear gloves when handling tablets, stay away from cat faeces & xray exposure.. and also gas like iso & nitrous..

Good luck xxxxx

Re: Pregnant - when do I tell work?

I would agree with what everyne else has said. I'm have been in your situation as I am now 25 weeks pregnant. I told my employer as soon as I could but asked that other members off staff were not told until I was happy after the 12 week scan. This worked really well and although some people may be suspect it really is better to be safe than sorry.

It does feel strange knowing that your employers knows when your friends and family may not know yet but unfortunately in our line work it is necessary to speak up now.

Hope this helps and congratulations.

Re: Pregnant - when do I tell work?

First of all congratulations . I would tell management/ head nurse, but also if you have a close friend who is a nurse at the practice, she can jump in and do the stuff you can not. It can be done discretely, so not everyone has to know yet.

Congratulations

Re: Pregnant - when do I tell work?

Congratulations!

I have not been trhough this situation but have been around others that have, it always seems to be a tough one but there is no doubt that you must tell work ASAP. As far as I know this can be done confidentially, and you can be placed on other shifts aside from theatre.

I would have no hesitation in telling them, baby comes first!

Best of luck,

You must tell work as soon as you know.

They need to do a risk assessment etc. For the sake of you and your baby x x x
