This is why I have been thinking of starting up a review site based for the veterinary world. (see above)

As I have worked for the RPSCA for years, we dont always have the latest gadgets, so honestly, when I went to the vet show, I was amazed by some of the equipment available for our little friends now a days!

There were products that can help VN's progress in their career along with keeping the money in the practice.

So,

When I wanted my new phone, I checked review sites and find out what people had put..... then naturally trusted those people over the sales guys in the phone shops!

I found it was hit or miss with finding reviews via vet/vn mags since the vetshow, which again is leading me to the fact that maybe I could make a website for this purpose...Personally would rather hear honest feed back from practices that already are using that product than the sales person alone.

If anybody has any thoughts on this, or maybe have a product in practice that you just cant live without which I could review that would be interesting.

NB. This is all 'market research' for now, and I thought this would be the best place to start. I have lots of ideas... but would like to know if any of you in the future might find it helpful if there was a review site for products that you may have seen in congress for eg

Or, maybe in the future, your practice might want to trail new products? (It was fun trailing Petsox before the launch!!)

Has she tried to get any companies on board that would be interested in selling / marketing her product?

That may be a good start to promote it a little through them.

Its a shame, but word of mouth is a great way to promote something, just a little slow to start off with i imagine.

Yeah, good for her, she's a lovely lady- was launched at the end of Dec, but like a say, as she hasn't got much money to advertise..... stalls at congress are mega bucks.......

The lady who invented it isn't in the vet world, a single mum who's doing a science degree. She hasnt got loads of money for advertising, so I'm trying to promote it after we trailed it for her a work- its great!

Thanks for your reply.

I need to start thinking about a career change, I love being a VN but now I'm 36 my body is starting to feel it.

Since I came across the lady who invented Petsox I've wanted to promote it for her as much as possible via word of mouth. This has got me thinking about starting up a review/word of mouth style website for the veterinary world...

There were a few products (hydrophysio and omega low level laser systems) at the Vet show, that if I was a owner of a practice, I'd be keen to invest in. If those products had a independent review site that I could visit, that would probably sway me in investing, or not...

I want to do a bit of market research on this, any ideas?

We normally find out through reps. But I think most VN's and Vets read VN Times and Vet Times so we find out stuff from their.

Also with BSAVA congress coming up, we will find out about any new products as there are normally alot on display with the different manufacturers. They are usually promoting their lastest product.
