I really hope I get my voluntary placement soon as the paper, ink and stamps are costing me a small fortune. Is it too much

Re: Placement letters

Awww keep trying her!
My aunt always used to say that the louder you are and the more persistent you are makes you more noticable - ie, if you send letters every few months to a practice they are more likely to look at you as a possible job candidate than someone who sends one letter and doesn't bother afterwards!

Deffo agree with that, we have had someone apply for every position going in our practice for over a year, so we have finally decided that we would like to interview her, and now i cant get in touch. Shame really as she is very persistent!

Re: Placement letters

Thanks Laura, but it is the VCA which I will be starting in September, so thats why it's voluntary, the Vet Nursing placement is even harder. Will definately keep sending my letters and hope to be given a chance.

Re: Placement letters

Everyone has their down days don't worry, and I know that it can get very depressing sending out letter after letter! I was lucky and got in with my local practice after doing work placements there through my uni hols and even locummed there before getting a full time job there!

My aunt always used to say that the louder you are and the more persistent you are makes you more noticable - ie, if you send letters every few months to a practice they are more likely to look at you as a possible job candidate than someone who sends one letter and doesn't bother afterwards!

The one major disadvantage is that many practices pay for the RCVS enrolment, college courses etc for their students, and as a way of seeing if you are suitable for their practice they will insist on you working there for a year before allowing you to start your official training

Hope it helps
