I have several ideas, which I think (or hope?!) would be useful to veterinary staff and hopefully successful in

Re: Writing a book

I know several writers they have taken various routes 2 use lulu which is an electronic download and one also uses amazon who print to order.

Re: Writing a book

I found it easier to make notes first of all on what each section or chapter was going to be about. When you write a section or chapter try not to drift off course too much and make sure it flows with the chapters going before and after - unless it is a totally different topic.

If you are quoting facts - make sure they are right , and make sure you attribute them to the right people

make sure you have permission if you are using copyright material - or dont use it!

if you are using photos make sure they are good - have a few alternatives and when asking people to read it show them the alternatives and ask them which one makes the most sense /looks the best. If anybody is in the photos other than yourself ask permission to use them

Spell check it

get at least 3 people to read it as well and mark in any spelling mistakes, grammar or punctuation that you may have missed

start approaching publishers if you feel you have done what you wanted to say justice - you can find these on line or sometimes in the national newspaper small ads - but be careful! dont part with any brass until you have seen something they have published and checked out the local bookstores to make sure they actually exist! Get as much proof reading done as you can before finding publisher, their proof readers usually cost an arm and a leg

find out how much it is going to cost you per copy

If it is a nursing book try tapping the drug companies for funds - you never know till you ask!

enjoy yourself writing it - not done any nursing books but have done one on motorcycles, have written a few articles for nursing but nothing too special
