The BSAVA sells manuals to members at about half the high street price. Aspinall and others are available from the book depository which I prefer to amazon. See www.bookdepository.co.uk . G'luck.

If you can wait that long and know anyone who is going to the BSAVA congress, you could ask them to pick some books up for you as they're usually discounted. I got the BSAVA manual of Vet Nursing for £40ish at the BVNA congress. Also keep an eye out for online vouchers - I got a 10% voucher online for Waterstones and used it on an anesthesia book.

i got the complete textbook already as a present to me im glad this is one that you guys are recommending as its hughe and i love to read. i think im going to have to save up for the others but thanks for info a definate help in what i was after

God, thats gone up. Got mine for chrimbo for £33 on amazon for new. But to all of you, get the isbn number and put it in a google search. It comes up with the cheapest sites to get it from. They had the ANA textbook on amazon for £154.00 and it wasn't even a hardback. Put it in google and found one on for £27.00. Isn't the BSAVA fourth edition textbook a must for the course? I called my college and they said I had to get it for my course. I have a wishlist on amazon under Katie Brock (same pic as profile). I have about 6 books on there which I was advised to get by numerous students on here. So have a look on there. I kind of like the thought of getting a big collection.

Are you a member of BVNA? Even as a student member you'll get discount on BVNA manuals - anything over about £60 is taking the michael I reckon - mine was £55 ish off amazon I think

Off to see the actual BSAVA prices!

These are good too, and if the BSAVA book is going to be updated for the new syllabus, then these may be a cheaper way to gain some knowledge before you start college.

BSAVA Textbook of Veterinary Nursing

I have both - they are really good books, i think the bsava book is a better textbook to be getting on with as a beginner as the Aspinall book goes into a bit more detail with some topics and has a few chapters on exotics and equine nursing. The BSAVA textbook is also better if you want to look at something quickly as its organised a bit better.

The Jones Veterinary Nursing books are a good start.

BSAVA have some veterinary nursing basic and and advanced stuff.

Surprised no one has replied to this.
