I especially hate being called a 'yank' or 'yankee'. Two reasons, it's rude, my name is Stephanie and I am a woman from America and I am an American. Not a YANK! Secondly I am from the Southern states which would make me a 'belle' or 'confederate' not a 'rebel' or 'yankee' from the Northern states or New England.

Poofy and Foofy to me are "dirty" we used them growing up would say eww that poofy or eww thats foofy for say picking up something grotty from the floor that you really shouldn't be handling.

gay is a word that used to have a really good meaning then got grabbed and reused in a totally different way that annoys the hell out of me. Used to be could say having a gay day or what a gay time now you carn't (and don't be smart you know what l mean) that is not to say l don't use the word under it's present meaning just it annoys me when a word is "subverted"

I'm so glad to hear it! I use it all the time and don't intend anything offensive. I was with my sister's gay brother-in law the other day and I went to say that my dog (fluffy poodly-type thing) was a bit gay, I stammered and said "poofy" instead. Then realised its pretty much the same thing!! Arrrggh! PC gone mad!

Apparently some feminist don't like the use of the word bitch, as its degrading to women . Hopefully most people don't take themselves too seriously!

I use it sometimes.... I'm not gay, but have friends who are and they aren't bothered by it, and use it themselves too.

Doesn't offend me - I think it is a different use of the word - kinda like wicked can mean different things
