To be honest i'm happy with Calmivet now, just use tiny doses of it which isn't a problem.

thought I would update you on the ACP situation, as far as I've been told, Novartis are aiming for ACP to be back on the market in august!! Fingers crossed, we're onto our last bottle of stock piled ACP!

Also got a letter the other say saying about the change to clomivet (is that it??)

We will prob use that in routines but vet not keen to use that in old/risky patients

have to admit we use a lot of medetomidine but we also use acp quite a bit especially in aincent or ones with heart/kidney probs

Has anyone thought about changing their premed protocol?

We are looking to adjust ours now to use medetomidine and butorphanol. Been speaking to referral centre and looked at previous cpd notes from another referral practice and they hardly seem to use ACP

Sorry, I should of explained: He uses Diazepam for fireworks night, but if we run out, he uses ACP if nothing else is available in our clinic.. and I'm not a vet, so not going to question or argue with him - but this year I over stocked on Diazepam so we never ran out, and didn't have to use ACP

I think it will be the tinies and cats that we will struggle dose wise with 5mg/ml. Out of interest what other premed combos do people use for cats that they find good?

I'm going to have to re do ours, but i have tried to get a stock of ACP inj in from centaur, so hopefully that will last a while!

i spent the afternoon re-doing our premed chart. We us 0.05mg/kg dose and it actually works out quite well

10kg x 0.05mg/kg = 0.5/5mg/ml = 0.10mls

Yes it will still be discontinued as once the wholesalers run out, they won't be able to get more in.

It says that it is discontinued for maybe upto 6 mths unti; they can find/ sort another manufacturing company/ site.... so hopefully will be back in stock next year somerime. Just ordered some bottles from Dunlops.

Talking of other drugs OOS, we had 7 bottles of Ketamine from Dunlops today... our backorder list... just as I was going to sort out an SIC!... great timing.....!

exactly! plus, some of the tablets 'remains unaffected' - whats the point in scapping injectables!! the only time we use the tablets is fireworks night!.. injectable we use as part of our premed.
