i would do the Telford certificate of nutrition - it does need updating but i did learn loads! and dont regret doing it.

i certainly regret getting work to pay for the RVC one.

if anyone finds a good nutrition course - PLEASE let me know!!! :-)

oh no after all the negative comments on the certificate, i looked at the rvc online course, dont think i'll bother now as its not cheap and if its rubbish its a waste of my bosses money.

Oh No!! Im gutted about the RVC course. i had my heart set on that will have to start searching for a denent course all over again. Boooo.

I do agree that the Telford course isnt very well run and i didnt get any help from them. the only contact was with my tutor wehn he returned work.

i had to wait over 2 months for my results asell, everytime i called i get 'oh they've been delayed'..... again and again!

as for the RVC nutrition course... Hmmm i've just finsihed it and really wasnt impressed ith it at all. its advertised as run by Daniel Chan, but he's only reviewed the notes. we spent most of our time looking for artilcles on BARF diets and vege diets for cats and then having to revie it.. we got given some notes which were good. there was a lot of disscussion needed - they had a forum where we could discuss cases etc.

not enough actual learning and too much faff! i really anted it ot fill some of the gaps that Telford left and sorry to say it really didnt!

to be honest myself and another nurse i work with really lost enthusiasum for this and didnt complete it fully. Very disapointed!

I have done it and sat my exam in sept 2009. (passed with distinction)

have to say it was the most haphazard organisation of a cpd course i have ever come across! there was very little communication. no help when you asked for it. and they even lost some of the papers i submitted and i had to redo them.

as others have said, a lot of the notes needed updating and i did masses of reading around, i asked the college several times how much extra reading was required and got nothing in the way of a helpful answer. i also asked for past papers to prepare for the exam and was told there were none availible no guidance was given on the practical exam and the exams themselves were poorly run and badly organised!

overall, i did it because i am very intrested in nutrition and it was the only certificate i could do. - i already hold all the hills VNA ones. but i was very dissapointed.

i am waiting with baited breath for the new nutrition course run by the RVC. hopefully it will be somewhat better as honestly it could not be much worse.

I did my first year at Telford, Edinburgh, and my head lecturer was Mary Fraser - wife (I belive) of the proactive exotics vet Simon Girling!

So I would expect any CPD/courses etc run by Telford in Edinburgh to have some aspect of exotics in there!

another thing i which i'd remembered to do was get in touch with the local Zoo and see if they'd let me in for a bit of a look into how and what they feed their exotics. that may be worth doing after youve done the few sections on exotics

I sat my exams in september this year.

i wasnt offered any past papers to have a look at and i run out of time to remember to ask for some, but i have a little feeling i wouldnt have got any where....

i did find it really good to do but that it as missing some stuff and could really do with an update

I did the Hills veterinary nursing advisor course, that was good. It went into alot of detail as well. Not sure if that what you thinking of.

I am doing it at the moment. Just finishing the fourth unit. So far so good, doing a fair bit of reading around as been a while for the anat and phys.

Aiming to do the exam next september. Just hoping there are past papers out there!!

Hello!

i've just completed the cert SAN course with Telford College in Edinburgh their number is 0131 559 4000 and its all distance learning but you have to go to Edinburgh for the exams.

i did enjoy it but found that some notes were a bit old and really needed updating and they dont really go into to much info about each type of rx diet - lots of reading to do but worth doing:-)
