I appreciate your anger and frustration - but If I was an owner reading this (and it doesnt matter that you havnt disclosed details) this is pretty damning for the veterinary profession as a whole. I know people need to sound off now and again but doing it on a forum that is less than private isnt the place to be doing it IMO. It doesnt look good. If we want to be seen as professionals we have to be seen to be behaving professionally. I am not advocating cover ups or turning a blind eye but maybe concerns are better not raised on here?

I am not picking on you - there has been quite a bit of this recently and I have pretty much said the same whenever I have seen it. Call me ultra cautious, in fact call me what ever you like but this is just the way I see it

[/quote]

But that is exactly the point I was making. No wonder people don't trust their vet if things like this happen. Maybe I have been lucky as I have never worked with a vet who would dream of doing anything like this. I think people should research which vet they use. I know I certainly will from now on!

Re: I just need a moan!

I appreciate your anger and frustration - but If I was an owner reading this (and it doesnt matter that you havnt disclosed details) this is pretty damning for the veterinary profession as a whole.
The difference with this case is that it was a mistake and the animal went in to it's vets "healthy" and now there is a high chance it's not going to make it and the vet has not been straight with the owners at all. It's hard to explain without giving away details about the case.

Re: I just need a moan!

But I agree - VERY frustrating.....

I know we have to be careful with what we say on here, but if it helps at all, I did a few years at a referral centre, taking phones for lots of local practices..... and we used to see lots of cases where the original vet had fannyed about and made the condition worse - very bloody annoying!

Not a right lot we can do about it though - the MRCVS VS's may have a better chance, but then who want's to whistle blow on their profession? And who knows, the original vets thought processes / tx plan may be completely kosher... for want of a better word.
