My dog had bilaterial Tibial Tuberosity Transpositions about 2 years ago (approx 6months apart) due to bilateral luxating patellas. she is now on synoquin (prevantatively) but im changing her over to ease flex due to palatability and preference

Re: Arthritis - Neutraceuticals

Brilliant

Thanks for your help

I'm also giving her Cod Liver Oil but liquid not the capsules as shes a terror and sucks the food from round them and spits them out so I thought the oil on her food would be much easier especially when I'm in a hurry to get to work and we're playing find the capsule

Does anyone know what dosage cod liver oil to use? I'm giving her a teaspoon once a day at the minute and she loves it on her dinner

Generally a dog's diet is high in omega 6 oils (as are human diets) So if you mix j/d with Chappie you are probably changing the ratio to a less beneficial ratio because there will be more omega 6 oils. Anti -inflammatory response will be diminished- and probably by a big margin.

Re: Arthritis - Neutraceuticals

Thanks everyone

I've bought a tub of ease flex and she LOVES it!!

Have bought J/D, its SO expensive, she also eats Chappie, I was thinking about mixing the J/D in with the chappie to make it last longer?

Would this be effective does anyone know?

Thanks again

However my insurance did pay for it for about 1 year, which is why I tried it in the first place.

Re: Arthritis - Neutraceuticals

why do you think the price lets if down Fi? Do you think its expensive? I know I do!!

Re: Arthritis - Neutraceuticals

I've got 2 dogs both with arthritis, both have Ease Flex, as a supplement and they eat JD. Young dog gets PLTs for pain & older dog get metacam.

Ease Flex is easy to give and the dogs love it. It says on the box that it will take 4-6 weeks for any difference but I noticed it in only 1 week. Down side is they're a bit expensive but if you've got insurance then they'll get paid for.

JD has possibly made the biggest difference though, although again the price lets it down. The dogs love it - young dog used to be fussy about food but now inhales its!! They have great coat condition, great poos and there is no waste. We even managed to decrease old dog's metacam.

Re: Arthritis - Neutraceuticals

[quote user="MissVetNurse"]

Yes but I didnt find it worked to well in my dog, but know some clients find it good, suppose it depends on strength you need?

It works by "switching off" the enzyme that breaks down cartilage in the joint as well as the omega 3;omega 6 ratio providing an anti inflammatory effect. Hope it helps.

Re: Arthritis - Neutraceuticals

My Sam, who broke her tibia when she was 6 months old, has arthritis on her stifle.

It only plays up every now and then... but i've found the best thing is the Royal Canin Mobility Support diet. She doesn't limp as much as she did when we had her on glucosamine and chondroitin. And it only really plays up when it is very cold out.

It has greenlipped mussel powder in it, and i'm impressed with it
