Absolutely! Especially if the note has been written to jog someones memory to talk to the person in question but this can often be missed when busy.

I worked at a practice as a trainee where everyone had an individual notebook so that messages could be written in for you. It wasn't a busy practice and not many staff and the amount of times people wrote messages in there just so not to say anything face to face was unbelieveable! One Saturday was hugely busy and as such neither I or the receptionist emptied the reception bin (waste paper not clinical rubbish and the rest of the practice was spotless!) and we both got a message from the HVN kicking off because of it, yet she said nothing at all to us despite being on the same Monday am shift-that I find very petty!

Very frustrating when your on your own running round trying to do everything. Try not to take it to heart, i was close to storming in yelling but bit my tongue and got on with it, i know i do my job the best i possibly can and we all have crappy days when there just isnt enough time to get everything done in the time frame people want them done for.

Re: does any one else have this problem?

I had it too at a practice I worked at.

Posted on the wall with my name on it. Took it higher who did s*d all about it, the person who wrote it didn't own up but had a fair idea who it was!

I left and as far as I know they haven't kept qualified staff since I've left 18 months ago, seen at least 5 adverts!

Re: does any one else have this problem?

I have worked in a practice which used to do a very similar thing. If someone did something wrong, instead of confronting that person about it they would send out a memo to everyone making it a massive deal. Was really annoying!

If I did something wrong I would rather be told to my face. I think it is just a case of bad management.

Re: does any one else have this problem?

the bigger the practice - the less likely people are to communicate face to face, its happened at virtually every large practice I have worked at. Sometimes its because the practice is so big and has so many areas you just dont get to see some of the staff you are working with during the day and writing it down means that you dont miss them or forget to mention it if you are too busy - it doesnt always mean somebody is nit picking - however its not the way I would choose if you want to keep a happy workforce as I understand completely how this can wind people up (it has done me in the past). Slightly better, but only slightly, if this needs to be communicated to a member of staff is by sending an internal email to them directly and beginning with- I know you were extremely busy yesterday and thankyou for the extra work you put in ..... is there anything I can do to help you?

This sort of thing is best done face to face.

Sometimes you do get people who are nit picking and they do this to make you look less than organised maybe because they are less organised themselves and need to make themselves look better or maybe because they are jealous that you are able to cope, or sometimes you get people doing this because they dont feel they can talk to the person they need to - but its not always the case

There is always the possibility that if this was say written up by a head nurse that these two things were pointed out to them by a vet and by writing it up on the board she is communicating to the staff in that area (not necessarily you unless they have identified you by name) that a couple of things didnt get done, and also to the vet that told her that she/he has communicated their concerns to the staff in that area if that makes sense.

Dont take it to heart its not always as bad as it seems
