until you have found another job to go to just be careful who you upset - going above the vet might not be a smart move? You may need that vet to write you a reference?

Also if you are not very careful how you handle this you could be seen to be a trouble maker

Nothing was done about the situation but at least I had got it off my chest. If you don't want this then why not write them a letter? The way I look at it is if nothing is said then the situation is just going to happen all over again. Best of luck! x

Re: favour anyone? :/

i feel ur pain and anger!

been in a situation similar and i actually wrote to the boss as i found it easier to do this as i find i panic and forget to say things or just get angry/upset face to face.

if put in writing he cant ignore it as it can be logged as a formal grievance and he has 7 days to respond/act.

it wont be easy to work with fellow staff involved while this happens but from what u have said it cant get much worse!

i also found gathering evidence eg writing down the break times and duties that i had done that day verses other staff duties helped.

wish u luck

I just feel like i'm being made a fool out of, and I probably am .. I've applied to other vets in my area with no joy yet.. but am considering just working in a pub just to get out. but I'm worried I'll end up stuck there!

D'you know what.. I even told the vet yesterday that they (manager & othe nurse) take the p*ss with their *** breaks.. and he said 'well I've let them get away with it for too long now to do anything about it' !! that answer made me so cross.. purly because he has let them get away with it, and refuses to put it right.. why should I be made to answer the phone when I'm busy cleaning after ops?? oh wait.. they NEED a ***!!!! p*sses me right off!!!

I know being sneeky might bite me back, but I reckon if the boss knew what they did - he'd hit the roof with them, and the vet for allowing it.. (boss don't work at my practice, he works at a different one) and I think it might just bring them back down to earth with a nasty bump! could even get a "client" to phone him .. hmmmmm..

Definitely cut your losses and find one of the many very happy practices. It's not worth it, if they were going to change they would have done, sometimes you just have to let them get on with it and move on.

Best of luck x

Re: favour anyone? :/

I had a similar situation a few years ago, I got out.
I was very miserable in my old job because of the practice manager and I went to the big bosses and absolutely nothing was done about it. I handed my notice in and instantly felt better and I'm now in a job I love.

There is no point being in a job that is making you miserable. Life is too short!

Re: favour anyone? :/

yes I remember the previous post - so is this the practice manager who was your friend and now is not your friend? It sounds like she has pallyied up with somebody else. You are not going to win this one and there is no sense in making yourself miserable. If the owner of the practice didnt find her previous behaviour sufficient to dismiss her then they are unlikely to do anything different this time. If the practice manager knows it was you who made the allegation then I guess this is payback.

my honest advice would be find another practice - you are not going to be happy there.

You have already been to the vet on a previous matter and this is how it has worked out - it was always a risk. Seriously an anon letter I do not think will make any difference apart from maybe resulting in you becoming more miserable.

chalk it down to experience - cut you losses - and find another job. Sorry its probably not something you want to hear but thats the way I see it.

Dont resort to being sneaky it will it will come back and bite you on the ass
