I too was very excited to get my first job working as a vet nurse assistant. I did this for roughly 4 years before I got a placement, I'm now a 1st year SVN. My patients and dedication to the job paid off in the end.

Well done chuck

Re: Nurse training jobs

Yeah definately, I mean I've personally been trying to wedge my foot in the door for 5 years! :)

Re: Nurse training jobs

Well done... great news! It is always really difficult to explain how patient people have to be to get a position in practice... so your story should give people hope.... it also proves that it is often being in the right place at the right time.................

Re: Nurse training jobs

Sort of, I wont enrol for training for about 18 months so it will be more of an ANA role than a vet nurse role but still excellent :D Thanks hun!
Hi guys! For those of you who have read my previous posts about trying to crack into nurse training, I have finally done it!! I am now working in a paid full time job with my local vets :) After 5 years of trying to get a job with them, I decided to volunteer at an RSPCA clinic instead, and I met one of the practice partners for the vets where I work now (Premier Vets)! He offered me an interview and all the vets who I have worked with at the RSCPA who also work at Premier said they put in a good word for me!!

anyway, just thought I would update you to say that it is possible to get into this career so dont ever give up :)
