I haven't studied since school (over 20 years ago) and am getting no help whatsoever in practice. I got a bit upset about the whole thing one day and asked one of the vets to help me. They weren't born Vets or RVN's, everyone at some point has felt vunerable and ackward. So I never get people who want to be difficult about it all.

And I totally agree with the ANA course. I looked into redoing my GCSE's Science and Maths as I gained a D but then when I found the ANA course I was told this would actually benefit my VN training so I am happy I get to do that rather than the dreaded maths and science stuff. Although I need to do functional studies with my VCA for my Maths equivalent. I just can't wait, 9 more months to go and still need to find my voluntary placement, aaahhh. My boyfriend keeps telling me to calm down as I have 7 months to find something but knowing my look, I won't get anywhere and then I will have moved in with my boyfriends rents just for my course and won't be able to do it. When I had placement this September. I will just feel more relaxed when I do get my placement and can then relax! And thanks for the link for the book, will be getting that as well as Victoria Aspinall Vet Nursing manual aparently thats like the VN bible, well thats what the women at my college says. Anyway, Pippa don't worry it will all work out and all have a lovely christmas and new year!

Totally agree with you, i ask questions all the time. A lady who does admin where i work has just moved over to nursing and she asks me questions all the time, she constantly apologises for it but i would rather her ask me a million questions than do something wrong because she wasnt sure. Its quite good really cos i dont always know the answers to her questions so we go look it up or ask someone else together.

Remember the ANA and VCA courses both have different syllabus - the VCA covers radiography and anaesthesia to some degree whereas ANA doesn't so for that, the big BSAVA book may be more useful. As a guide though the ANA book is particularly useful for both courses and there are often some floating around second hand on Ebay if your practice doesn't have one you can use.

Re: ANA help :0(

Well done on your results :) Every one passed the majority of their exams (think there may have been one paper failed, not too sure)

This is the ANA book. I thought I would be able to get by with the BSAVA Manual of Veterinary Nursing (the big one!) but apparently not! The ANA book covers all the subjects but to a simpler degree, so annoyingly you can over-learn with the BSAVA manual and confuse yourself. Also I didn't know exactly what subjects would be covered in the exams without the ANA book. Try and borrow one from someone who has already done the course as £30 is a lot for a book you'll only ever use for a year (assuming you want to continue your training after?)

Re: ANA help :0(

I'm confused what is the ANA book. Very pleased indeed. However, even though I handed my caselogs in September I am still waiting on the results.

I found out today this is because the awarding body LOST my caselogs and only found them yesterday, and this from a professional awarding body?! My tutor was then told they would be marked in January... Erm, no. Thankfully my tutor asked for them to be marked this week as I worked my butt off to get them handed in in September specifically to get my results early, and it's not my fault they lost them! So hopefully I should know whether I have passed the whole course before Christmas.
