My poor staffie was attacked this afternoon (for the 5th time) by two dogs while out on a walk with my father. Luckily I can bring him home with drip, great perk of the job . Wearing a muzzle as a 'dangerous breed' , he has bite wounds

Re: Dog Attacked

OMG!!! I can't believe the treatment at that practice!! I would be complaining quite loudly about that - 1) No vet and 2) WTF was that nurse doing? She should have called the bloody vet back! Poor dog! If it had of been a client who didn't know any better, the dog would probably have a raging infection in a couple of days time! He was on a halti lead(with the muzzle halti) and a rottie came bounding down the beach grabbed the JRT and shook him like a doll, there was torn muscle and lacerations from the bite. the owner of the dog came up after and apologied and even said he was a retired vet!!! didn't even bother to offer to pay the vet bill. She took him to the nearest vet in the little village instead of coming to my work and they didn't have a vet on so the nurse there looked at him irrigated the wound with my partner's mum holding him and then stapled him with no sedation or pain relief!! then sent him home with a £35 bill. no antibiotic and no pain relief... I was outraged!!! i told her to go to my work immediatly and have a VET look at the wound. get some antibiotics and some pain relief for him. being torn muscle it was going to be really painful for him.

Re: Dog Attacked

Aww the above thread just reminds me of my staffie cross!! shes such a sweetie-best dog ive ever had and i'd definately get a staffie or staffie cross again.
I've got a SBT as well (a rescue stray whom i've had since sept). I always keep him on the lead around other dogs because he can be a bit unpredictable (he's a total angel with people on the other hand!), and some experiences he's had since i've had him can't have helped. One being a pack of about 10 labs surrounding him, and one of them going for him, he must have been terrified! Another was a JRT who came hurtling up behind him and myself, neither of us saw it coming, and it was going MAD trying to bite him...i quickly whipped him up out of the little sh**s reach (glad i didn't get bitten by it in the process), while the owner just stood calling it, and it paid NO attention to her whatsoever. I had to just carry on walking carrying Jack until it got bored and ran away! If Jack had turned around and snapped then of course it would have been all his fault!!! He's had a few other experiences of off lead dogs coming and not being very friendly with him! It annoys me because i know i can't always trust him with other dogs, that why i act in a responsible manner and keep him on lead so i know i can be in control of the situation if he takes a dislike to a dog. I'm pleased to say he has had some nice experiences with other dogs as well, they've had a sniff of each other and a tail wag then carried on with their own business. If people know their dogs aren't good with other dogs why the hell do they let them loose to cause havoc?!?!
