I finished packing my box up yesterday..... I am not religious at all... have no problems at all with anyone elses views/ideals/beliefs etc but it is definately not for me, but where children are concerned, if such a simple idea can give joy to a little 'un for a few hours and a group can organise and deliver what and how they say, then they are very high in my book

Havnt done any boxes this year but have been collecting money and equipment which hopefully will be going to Pakistan later this month.

one of the ones I have supported in the past is Task Force Albania.

I am not wanting to deter people from making up these shoeboxes - please dont think that because they are very gratefully received by children and families that have very little. And what might seem to be very little to us means so much to those who have nothing - I pulled out of collecting for a particular group because the religious ovetones didnt sit well with me - Gifts that are given (to anybody but particularly to children ) shouldnt come with strings attached in my book.

Sal - which charities do you collect for? I was all excited about collecting for OCC but after a bit of googling (dangerous I know!) I feel less and less comfortable about their possible motives.

If anyone has any more info I'd appreciate it as I can't make up my mind as to what to do!xx

My son's school has been collecting the boxes this year, I filled 2 with my 4 year old son and he absolutely loved doing it. He was very proud of the boxes and showed anyone who came to the house what was in them. He said they were for children who dont have any pennies!

please note samaritans purse is not the same as samaritans -

yes have been a collector for this in the past but now collect for another charity.

Please dont forget the 2.50 - many people either forget or dont wish to give the 2.50 but that pays for the transport.

Shoe boxes are a great idea, they do a simula one for kids coming from domestic abuse homes, often they've left everything else behind, so this box is something that they will treasure.

I think the rule is no battery toys, no guns/war toys, but other than that......

Great scheme! Everyone should do a box :)

Hi... it's a fantastic scheme and really satisfying and enjoyable to do...... have already started collecting.... this year I'm doing for an older boy because I thought fewer people would chose them because they are harder to buy things for
