Little cuttie.

Great work on the video, it really puts the message across. Have to admitt i did shead a tear. I worked at the PDSA for a while and was shocked at the state of some of the animals that came in. Its a good idea to put the video on youtube.

The WVS and world animal net look great just what i was looking for, ill keep on eye out for trips and hopfully i will be posting how great it was by the summer!

Good luck with all your work in cyprus and i will direct my colleagues to the webpage!

Thanks for all the advice!

Re: Volunteering overseas

The other quite useful site is worldanimal.net. If you go to the directory on the menu and then select which part of the world you fancy, there are tons of shelters and organisations listed. many of them have websites and you can then contact them yourself to seewhether they need help (although that tends to be more kennel work, walking dogs and cuddling etc so it depends if you are really wanting to use your nursing skills).

My charity is www.parc-cyprus.org and my youtube video about their work is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcuzkqnnhGU (you need the sound turned up and quite possibly a tissue handy!)

My work started by accident after a couple of holidays and plans to relocate there so i had looked into the animal situation with regards to future jobs opportunities and was shocked by what i found. I now go there twice yearly for my hols as I have lots of friends, spend half my time on a Cyprus ex-pats forum and raise as much money as I can for them inbetween. I adoped my little Henribear from them just over 12mths ago .....

I will research into the ones youve mentioned. I was hoping to do a 2-3 weeks a year and mabye somewhere i can go back to each year. There seems to be alot online but im not sure which ones to trust and if i would gain anything from it. Since this will be my first trip i would like to go somewhere in Europe first. I would really be interested in a neutering trip. It would be interesting to see how different things are in other countries. Theres always more you can learn!

That sounds great which charitys do you volunteer with?

Thanks again for the advise and ill check out the older posts for more info!

There are several charities who organise neutering trips and shelter work aborad, Greek cat Welfare, Worldwide Veterinary Service etc (WVS do Europe and long haul) and then there are slightly more exotic trips and destinations such as work with big cats or moon bears, both of which you'll find older posts on this forum from nurses who have got involved. I organise my own trips and am now heavily involved with an animal charity in Cyprus who i visit regularly and spend the rest of my time fundraising for here in the UK.

Did you have a specific type of work in mind and a time scale eg a week or two or longer term?
