Just want to do a quick endoscope... will only take 2 minutes tops. TWO MINUTES?! Then the 60 minute cleaning protocol afterwards!

Walk from their consult room to prep, and ask for a nurse to go and take a dog from the consult room to the kennels for them. Erm... you've just walked halfway there, do it yourself.

Express their desire for a cup of tea, whilst they're sat doing nothing watching you deal with an animal. Then get peed off when you say "yes please, milk two sugars" after expecting the response "yes wonderful vet I shall be your personal waitress for the day"

Can see how short staffed you are due to holiday/cpd/illness/college all occuring on the same day, then just add 4 more "urgent" spays to the already full ops board.

Call you out of hours for an "emergency" before actually examining the animal, then sending you straight back home when you get to the practice 20 mins later, because the owner was overreacting. Then not understanding why you are annoyed, because you don't get paid for the pleasure of wasting your time...

Am sure I can think of plenty more...

ha ha ha i think theres at least 1 vet like that in every practice! another 1 that errks me is the treasure hunt for mugs of half drunk tea scattered in everyroom of d practice!! even on the fire escape steps outside!! really not hard to find a sink in a hospital der in EVERY room really, plus a tap outside!!!

Actually that reminds me...vet was flushing anal glands last week...sat right in the firing line...she thinks it was mainly saline that got her in the face hahaha!

Since yesterday, I've remembered my first boss could break wind like a gun being fired, and frequently did, while consulting. The first time I went to see what had happened, if he'd shot a client, but nobody else seemed to notice. Heard it before, I guess. And the one-teabag-a-week colleague once vomited on a client when hungover, and also once emptied a dog's anal glands into his own mouth [ full details can be supplied on request ] By the way, totally agree, never take life too seriously.

Alasdair, that made me laugh so much! Totally agree that everyone should muck with dish washing etc.

Another thing I think is so important workwise, the ability to get the work done but with a bit of humour along the way minus the nuclear crapping of course! lol!

That was me today! Its ALWAYS the vet who can't find things- you should have seen the look on her face when she realised the roles were reversed today. Aaaahhh! I wanted to shout "well, it makes a change that you could find something!" Doesn't really wind me up, though, bless her!

When vets repeatedly stab trying to cannulate a vein and never once ask the nurse to have a go......

I have my vet saying now "I've had a vet look/ man look and can't find....." usual reply "X draw/cupboard on the left about half way back"

nope but its practical - I never ever got to make another cup of tea and was never asked for that vet for another 5 years! ( could have been longer but one of us gave up and left)

could always make them a cuppa and just add that you used the recycled tea bag from the side of the sink and have left it out for the next person but dont know if it will hold up to a third brew? - I did and it had an instant result
