Since being in a referral practice, I can see that that would not go very far. I won't be increasing her policy though as I already pay nearly £30 a month for her insurance. Luckily I would get everything at cost where I work so if I were to go over my limit then I wouldn't have to pay full price for the rest.

Re: Last night's Watchdog

Very good point Kim, i hadn't thought of it like that. I wonder at times if i should increase Jacks policy with the costs going up.

Re: Last night's Watchdog

I didn't see Watchdog but was chatting to someone at work about pet insurance. She was saying how her dogs insurance has been increased by quite a lot in the last couple of years in the last couple of years even though she hasn't claimed on it. The insurance company say that this is because vet costs have increased.

Fair enough but because this is the case then surely the limit they give should also be increased seeing as it's costing more money to treat conditions. Just a thought.

Re: Last night's Watchdog

I'm not currently working in practice but when I was, I remember there was never a huge amount of insured pets anyway. Unfortunately a lot of people still think it's a con.

Why pay all that money and never use it? The only reason people have car insurance is 'cos it's legally required, that might be the difference.

If everyone had to insure their pets then companies might give more competitive rates. The more people that use a service, the better it is for everyone.

Re: Last night's Watchdog

Yeah they did seem to be well informed I just thought the insurance policies were disproportionatley high - if you compare it with say car insurance it's not very competitive. I feel a bit sorry for clients really. Also if people can't afford to insure their dogs, like some people on the show, ultimatly it's going to affect vets as people will not be in a position to pay for treatment and might have to go for pts instead?

Re: Last night's Watchdog

I just watched it on iplayer. Luckily they actually had people that knew what they were talking about on there and they didn't seem as offensive as I've seen them on previous topics.
