You can add milk replacer to her food to up the calories, also leave it down for her to drink (as a paste or as milk), I have found this helps wean the babies as they try what mum's eating. Good luck!

Its always easy to give out advice, but my brain turns to mush and I get terrible owneritis with my own!!!!

Careful with KMR though as it can give the squirts. :) Depends on the cat really but honestly in my breeding experience I would not feed her replacement milk and would just give her a high quality food with lots of protein.

Re: my cat has just had kittens.....

You can add milk replacer to her food to up the calories, also leave it down for her to drink (as a paste or as milk), I have found this helps wean the babies as they try what mum's eating. Just be sure you worm her and worm the kittens and be sure they have their usual flea treatment. was she wormed during pregnancy or before?

Re: my cat has just had kittens.....

Hey thanks for the reponse, i think im just being a parnoid mum!! Kittens are fab and so is she, driving me insane actually lol! She's still extremely playful and always full of the beans. She has been to see the vet and they weren't worried but like i say im just not used to having such a skinny cat and think im jus worrying for nothin. Hopefully soon as the smittens are weaned she will gain weight much better.

Re: my cat has just had kittens.....

weigh loss is fairly normal with queens for the nursing period. Have you thought about feeding her a higher protein diet?? Nature's Menu is very good. Does she seem to have enough milk? I think as long as the kittens are feeding and putting on weight and she's eating, active and toileting, I personally wouldn't worry. Once she's weaning and still not putting on any weight or if she loses anymore I would look into it. Hope this helps. :)

Re: my cat has just had kittens.....

I would get her a check up just to be sure... maybe she's finding it hard because she's always had a tendency to be underweight but its better safe than sorry!
