Basically anybody can get
maitenence loan regardless of their previous study! It is your tutition
fees and grants that you will not get if you have previous study - the N+1 rule applies as mentioned above!

Sorry minds frazzled!

Re: money problems

Nope am student finance england and don't deal with the scots which can lead to a few irate people! But anyways, the nhs is a funny one as you do would not get any grants from Student Finance England, if you get an nhs bursary, but you would get the loans! Gets confusing!

It's all down to previous study! So if you have done VN training for say 2 years then yeah they would take that off your studying, but if you do a nhs course of 3 years say they would only fund 2 years. The reason for that is N+1, so new course is 3 years plus 1 gift year so 4 years funding minus your 2 years previous study it would mean 2 years funding left. so for the last 2 years of your course you would get the maintenance loan! Sorry if thats confusing!

I am not too sure how nhs works as do not with them directly but pretty sure anyone can get it, tutition fee loan and nhs bursary from them, well that my understanding to be honest!

Anybody with any qs feel free to pm me! Currently it ain't doable even with my partners wage. We shall see. Think that it's bad that there in no extra help for us 'mature' students.

Nick, do you know that if you are recieving an NHS bursary that student loans company will provide you with a minimum maintenance loan of around £2,400 ? Only know that cos been working for them for last few months.

In regards to mature students and extra help having worked for student loans for the last few months ... here is what I know....

as a mature student you can receive a matienence grant of up to £2,906 depending on what your partner earns, a loan of up to £3500, a parents learning allowance of £1500 and if your partner is on a low income you can up to £2500 for adults dependent grant and of course if your kids need child care that is provided too, all of this is given to mature students who study full time! Not bad and seems like plenty of support to me!Just my opinion anyways!

really? - that wasnt my experience when I was searching high and low for any kind of funding earlier this year. I couldnt get an NHS bursary under the NHS employability scheme which is classed as voluntary, didnt qualify for any loans, and if I had done the NHS placement instead of going back into veterinary nursing wouldnt have been eligible for any benefits either. Are we talking Scotland here? as I realise the grants are a little bit different there - or maybe it was something to do with me being single ie no partner and no kids? who knows

Re: money problems

[quote user="Nick BATFINK Shackleton Dip AVN(surg)VN MBVNA"]
