Thanks Tracey, as you say we all know that 'your not really supposed to' but I'm struggling to find any fact to base this on. Does anybody have any links to documented evdidence or official advise from H&S folks/RCVS/BVNA/Iso manufacturers? Surely there are some practice managers out there who have had to look into this thouroughly before making any decisions regarding pregnant staff?

I worked with gas anaesthesia all the way through pregnancy. I think this was my own choice really, but i dont think you are supposed to.

Somebody smashed a full bottle of iso on the floor during my preganacy though and i was evacuated out of the building for hours lol.

I didnt monitor masked animals, only ones that were intubated, and also made sure scavenging was attached etc. Still bad I know

Quick question for you mothers/mothers to be...

At what stage did you stop working with gas anaesthesia? Also do any of you have any links to any factual information describing the risks of working with gas anaesthesia while pregnant (there are plenty of discussions about this on this website but most are lacking actual fact or evidence to back up personal opinion).

Those who have worked for the PD will know they are sticklers for the rules so any of you remember their policy on gas anaesthesia and reasons why??

I ditto Mrs P - make sure it is huge!

I was working at the PDSA when I was pregnant - everyone wears scrubs - when they ordered me the maternity set I looked it & thought it looked like curtains! It looked HUGE, but by the time I left at 30 weeks, it was starting to get tight!!

The other two nurses have rallied around and ordered scrubs.........i'm gonna be comfy now for a good while.

Got my maternity stuff from Graham Gardner as I was told I still had to wear 'greens'. Good quality, but expensive and looooong delivery time. My bigger size scrubs are getting v tight now at 28wks. Make sure you order PLENTY big enough!! I've got 8 weeks before going on M leave and am too scared to ask for more uniforms so will have to invest in some spare elastic

i wore scrubs during my pregnancy, but that is what my practice wears anyway. i just ordered a bigger size and they fitted me up to 36 weeks, they were comfy too x
