thanks for your replies - was just very interested in what I saw, there seemed to be an awful lot going on without veterinary surgeon intervention (and I realise that filmed material can be edited so vet may have been there)

Do the same regulations apply re purchase, storage and administration of drugs in wildlife hospitals as they do in ordinary hospitals?

We have 2 staff veterinary surgeons as well as consultant veterinary surgeons.

THe matter of wildlife casualties is complicated involving common law as well as numerous other laws and statutes

refer to "Ethical and legal implications of treating casualty wild animals" by John and Margaret Cooper

Perhaps they class it as emergancy first aid so get away with it, in terms of giving drugs.....instruction over the phone by a VS? I recently visited a wildlife hospital and the VS is only there one day a week and for everything else they try to phone him, hard when the VS is consulting etc at their own practice
