I am having a rant guys, as you can see.

Change never has a great reaction in our place!

What are you trying to introduce?

Re: Regimented and Routine!

Is that not human nature to a degree? It happens in all walks of life.

I remember my other half having a farm job interview and was told they were looking to improve/try new ways. He was asked a question about how to improve something, he went to answer and before he got finished the guy flatly said 'No, we wont be trying that'.

Also I think we all get a little stuck in a rut at times. I know that change or the idea of change to me is scarey and I can have various great ideas but am either too busy procarastinating or too scared to implement the ideas.

But having said that, it is irritating if you are trying to change things for the better and you are continually met with a brick wall of 'no no no no, it cant be done'.

I suppose the wall comes from a lack of understanding or suspicion about what the change is for.

Lovely new hospital, lovely staff but whole place stuck in a massive rut! Real shame as could be an amazing place if only things were changed!

Re: Regimented and Routine!

yes its one of the main issues for me looking around for other work when I have worked in some practices - it becomes frustrating to the point you just dont want to be there anymore

but then there are probably others that come behind me who dont agree with the way I do things either. I suppose thats what keeps the job interesting - always something new coming along - some of it good and some of it not so good

Generally speaking I find the bigger the practice the greater the chance you are entering a time warp and the greater the chance of resistance to anything new - I always expected the smaller practices to be more like this but almost always they have been the most receptive of an injection of new ideas in my experience. Maybe you could argue that the smaller practices have more room for improvement to catch up with the bigger hospital types or - could it be that a smaller practice has fewer staff , fewer hiding places and although we arent maybe as technologically advanced some of us have a real pride in our work

Re: Regimented and Routine!

I've just recently gone to a new practice who had the same nurse there in charge for about 30 years... oh my goodness. I've spent the last 4 months cleaning and reorganising as it was such a bloody mess. I was met with open arms at first and the loads of resistance... think they have gotten fed up now and have just left me to it
