There are quite a few formulated diets available in the UK, our preferred diet is Harrison's Bird Foods. If you contact Meadow's Animal Healthcare they can supply you with the Harrisons Handbook for a Healthier Bird which discusses the benefits of the diet.

The BSAVA Psittacine manual is a good read, also 'Birds for Dummies ' is a good resource for many aspects of parrot husbandry. There are loads of recipes available for home prepared diets consisting of seed/pulses/veg/fruit/nuts etc, but as with dog & cat nutrition getting them onto a good quality complete balanced food takes all the hassle away.

Re: Parrots

I have a 25 yo African Grey, she eats anything and everything. Her cage, the living room, the kitchen and several large chunks out of me!

Re: Parrots

I would get in touch with this place - they really know their stuff
