Chester is a lovely city to stay in, or there are some nice places in Cheshire (although the nice ones are expensive) or you could come out to my side of the city on the edge of the Peak District which is cheaper and picturesque (and usually fairly soggy at this time of year!) My personal choice for access to manchester, Ellesmere Port etc would have to be Chester though, plus there's a cool shopping place nearby too (except you're saving money) with those outlet type shops (including a fab NEXT one!) and of course The Trafford Centre. Chester itslef has lovely quaint shops as well as all the usual stuff, plenty of choice of posh hotels and small pretty b&b's, nice restaurants plus all the usual things like cinemas etc and as has already been said, is not far to the north Wales beaches from there either.

Have spoken to the boy this evening and he said that we could always go somewhere that isn't Manchester. So any suggestions for anywhere around that area and places to stay? Sorry for all the questions but I don't even know where to start!

I love the art gallery, free entry and some amazing paintings. There is a chariot race takes up darn near the entire wall and the energy it pounds out tirres you looking at it.

Next to that is a knight trying to get his horse and dog to go into a cave for whatever very realistic.

In the gallery next to that is a scottish one of a young girl on a wagon load of tree trunks. Can almost feel the wood think birch wood under your fingers.

Loads of others but those 3 l always go looking for the 4 times l have been there.

Haha trying to do it on a budget as we are going to Vegas next year and so trying to save for that!

Will not be taking the mutts as would like a peaceful weekend Thinking of things more in the city. I wanted to go to Chester Zoo but think a day in an aquarium is enough for Jon!
