My assessors are going to try and sort it all out with the other partner as they didn't realise how much it was getting me down, if there's no improvement then I shall review my portfolio at the end of March (deadline for exams...eek!), hopefully I'll have 100% if I put my bum in gear and get the work done. If I'm still miserable at that point then I'll hand in my resignation.

For the time being I'm going to do what I do best, keep my chin up and be as positive as physically possible!

I'm a head nurse in a training practice (not assessor) but we have quite a few students for whatever reason joining us part way through their training, we have found that providing you get all the paperwork ready (change of TP form) get it signed by your old practice and then your free to start portfolio at your current practice

We've had no problems to date

Hope that helps

I used to be quiet and not say anything and just get on with what I was told. As Iv grown older that has changed and I now speak up for myself and will also defend other nurses/vets if I think its required

Re: as a trainee how hard is it to change practices??

It really shouldnt be much hassle at all! As has been said just make sure you get all work signed and signatures in your portfolio. Alot of practices will take on a level 3 student in the place of a qualified so there should be places out there.

There is a but to this though! From previous experiences I would always be a little bit wary of a student leaving halfway through their second year. Just make sure you are honest and upfront about your reasons for leaving and Im sure you will be fine.

Re: as a trainee how hard is it to change practices??

I've just been told it's too much hassle than its worth. I should be qualified in about 10 months but the thought of sticking it out for that long is too much. I like to think I am a very easy going person, but apparantly the way I say things is wrong and people have issues with me because I stand up for myself, which I've always thought was a good personality trait to have! I understand bosses are a pain and you don't get on with everyone, but when you are singled out each and everyday, treated completely differently to everyone else in practice and made to feel worthless is there any point in putting yourself through that for a few extra months?

Re: as a trainee how hard is it to change practices??

Hi, changing practices should not be a problem, the problem will be finding somewhere to go but you should be ok as you are NVQ 3 and I assume you have good experience.

The only thing you will have to do is fill in the form that goes with the portfolio to say you have changed.

Degree/foundation degree students go from place to place with no issues.

Before you leave make sure you get all signatures required especially from your boss then you wont have to make contact with him again.

What problems did you get told you would have?

I get told I have anger problems because the boss and manager have issues listening to the rest of the team. I do get mad but generally an easy going person and never get mad at my team even if they do something wrong. All bosses can be a pain!
