The RAC man crashed my car into my neighbours car writing my car off. His response was I had to go through MY insurance!!! No way!!! The police were no help either even though he left an accident without giving details.

Took me 4 months, threats of court action (neighbours insurance threatened to take ME to court as the car was mine) and plastered all over my facebook with pictures before they took responsiblity and paid up. What was a joke was they offered a courtesy car at the same time as finally paying for my car and the neighbours car... better late than never I suppose

Re: I've dented someones car!

My sister reversed out of her drive (in her brand new car) into a car that was parked...she went back into her house to write a note on a piece of paper with her details and when she came back out with it a min later the car was gone!

Re: I've dented someones car!

It really sounds like he was trying to have you over, particularly as he has suddenly said he'll accept a lot less and pay the rest himself rather than get quotes or prove the quote! 'Good' of him!

Re: I've dented someones car!

[quote user="Sian Gale"]

Thankyou all for your help and advice.

Kind of good news.. I was brave and told people I really think they should get it done somewhere cheaper or at least get a quote, they said the dent was on an angle so it is a big job and it would need a re-spray that is why it is so expensive to repair. So I rang them agan later and got really upset saying I really cant afford it and really dont want to put it through eiher mine or my friends insurance because of premiums and excesses as we are both under 25, and thankfully they are letting me just pay £100 towards the repair as they dont want the hassle of getting more quotes and this garage always does any work for them.

Phew!! Its still a lot and I do feel guilty but if they chose to have it done at an expensive garage its not fair to expect me to pay an excessive amount.

Message to everyone..BE CAREFULL WHEN OPENING YOUR CAR DOORS you never know what you might hit!

I take 2 spaces in carparks......... because I have had my car hit so many times....usually from people with baby seats in the back...never ever park next to a car with a baby seat.
