A badly run puppy party could possibly cause lifelong damage to a young pup in his very critical sensitive period.

Free-play must be very carefully supervised. I'd advise only letting 2 pups off at once until you have done a fair few, and even then letting off more than 2 pups at the same time is questionable. Let off similarly matched pairs in terms of character, keep an eye out for bullying and let shy puppies come out in their own time don't push them.

You can talk about lots of stuff including vaccinations, worming incl lungworm, neutering, microchipping etc.

Everyone will be experiencing the same puppy problems so you will be asked about toilet training, how to prevent jumping up, how to stop play biting etc so be confident in how to deal with all this.

The most important thing is socialisation and habituation, so make sure owners realise that just because they've been to a puppy party it doesn't stop there, they must must must get out and about exposing their puppy to as much as possible in a positive manner.

Good luck

Re: Puppy Party

Nicola Ackerman from Plymouth Vets wrote me a guide to running a puppy party. If you can give me an e-mail address I will forward it on to you. I'm sure she wouldn't mind.
