We get a lot of this too. I get really p**sed off when you get hauled up before the pm because someone has complained about you (the ONLY one of the hundreds of clients you see) and it turns out to be the person you asked to pay their outstanding bill. I''ve started to outwit them now by telling the pm when I think someone will have a moan because I've reminded them about their debt. I'm also fed up with Staffy-owning halfwits expecting not to have to pay a bill because they are 'on benefits' even though they will no doubt sell the puppies from the caesarian they are not paying for for a small fortune!

We get this sooo much-glad to hear its not just us! I always want to say to these people'if you are no benefits and you need to feed your children don't have any animals!!!'

I discharged the pup & spent a 'stupid' amount of time explaining what had been done as she didn't seem like she'd quite grasped the seriousness of the op. I even drew pictures! (when the vet had called her about of the seriousness of her pups case and the op needed she just asked if she could be spayed at the same time!! ) The client then went on to ask me about her other dogs and the possibility one might need pts, so I spoke to her a bit about that too. Luckily for me one of the the vets was using a computer at reception and heard all this and exclaimed that it was the longest discharge in history!. then came time to ask for the money (at which point the vet had gone and the receptionist was in another room cleaning) She was fine with the amount but asked to split into 2 cheques, which was fine. The practice had 'very' specific policies on taking payments so I checked a couple of times that I was entering it correctly as a number had to be entered for each cq and I had to get a card for the cheques (as you do). It was a business acc so no card so asked I she minded if I wrote her details on the back. At this point she flew up from her chair , stormed over, grabbed the cheques from me, wrote her details in HUGE letters on the back and started laying into me about not being concerned for animal welfare and only worried about money, that she felt like she'd been treated like a thief. I would usually just apologise and go hide but I was soo shocked & taken aback by this sudden change that I asked her to stop and asked what I'd done to upset her. She ranted on about money grabbing, how she had spilled her guts about a sensitive and personal topic to me. I could see I was getting nowhere so I once again apologised if anything I had said caused offense and said I would just go get the pup. I walked into the kennels, looked at the staff there and burst into tears I have NEVER .. NE...VER in my life been talked to like that. I quickly composed myself, took the puppy out to finish the discharge but she would not acknowledge me at all so I spoke to her teenage daughter instead.

I narrowly missed her a few days later. the staff thought she would apologise after realising she had been a twit but she asked if THAT nurse was here as she was very upset with the way she had been treated. The receptionist (god love her) said I was not available and went on to explain how upset she had made me also. She was a nutter and not even her daughter said anything about the irrational way she had spoken to me on the day. I know handing over a lot of money when things are tight can be upsetting but crikey moses!!

Oops - did I say long story short Sorry.

Re: Was this wrong....................................

[quote user="Kate Claxton DipAVN(Med)VN"]
