As to "keep an eye" it is probably along the lines "keep an eye open and if she needs or asks for help give it to her" and this receptionist has decided to warp the words to fit her needs.

Re: who's higher ?

I work on reception along side her I don't cover reception on my own . Well only a select few times in the past for a couple of hours or an afternoon.

I do have a HN she is based at the other surgery tho and hardly comes here . I think she asks the receptionist to keep an aye on me...

Re: who's higher ?

Surely HN is in charge of you?

We have HN is manager of all nurse staff, PM is manager of reception staff. So reception and nurses are on a level. Not that we are like that, we work as a team on an even level.

Re: who's higher ?

Normally there should be some sort of line management so nurses would have head nurses as their line manager, then the senior vet/practice manager. Reception staff normally wouldn't be in charge of nurses, and vice versa unless this is how your practice runs? Do you cover reception shifts as part of your ANA role? Either way though as you both do different roles there shouldn't be a 'I'm boss of you' type situation.

Speak to your head nurses/reception manager (if you have one) if you think she's getting at you.

Re: who's higher ?

I aint sure about that but I don't think so.
