I made revision flash cards. By writing them out it helped remember . I also wrote out my own question cards and get my boyfriend and family to help ask them. I also read the question answerbooks and tested my self all the time and u actually start memorising the answers. Quite a few popped up in my exam and i knew straight away cos they were ones which were in the books. Good luck !

Re: revision!!

yes ive got that book, found it good but worry its not in depth enough

Re: revision!!

Have you got the How to Get Through NVQ 3 book? I just revised from those books, and only used other books/class notes if there was a subject I really didn't understand. Other books/class notes go into more depth than you need for the exam, so I found the way the How To Get Through books condense every subject really useful. Then from that one book I made flash cards.

You've obviously done something right getting through the first year and passing one of the NVQ 3 papers, so you're nearly there

Re: revision!!

If you have someone to study with, or maybe a new nurse or work experience you could explain a certain process to?
I record my notes in to mp3 format. It means I have to read my notes from college out loud and then I can listen to them when I want and weaker areas I can listen to more than stronger areas and I sleep listening to them and find this combined with MQC's and reading helps me revise.

Some people learn best from reading things, some from writing things down, by being shown things practically etc.

Personally I find that making my own flash cards helps me - picking out the key information from notes and textbooks, and condensing it, writing it down, and then getting people to quiz me.

I like Maisy's idea of workbooks with crosswords etc too!

Good Luck for March - fingers crossed for you

Re: revision!!

What about trying different types of revision methods, so rather than focus mainly on the mcq, ask people to draw up things such as crosswords, fill the spaces in paragraphs, labelling diagrams etc. Sounds basic but there were a couple of books published as a workbook in A+P and radiography with these methods that were recommended by my old college and they were found to be invaluable.

Learning the books is a going to help definitely, but other revision types mean that you are understanding problem areas in a different fashion so you aren't just focusing on what MCQ are asking you. I found radiography to be a problem area and my assessor would write paragraphs of how the machine works, processing films etc with gaps to fill in missing words etc and this got me thinking and eventually understood the subject more.
