My mum did the dental nursing NVQ a couple of years ago and wasn't paid that badly at all! She was in her 40's at the time though and had her training funded.

no I wouldnt have signed that contract either but at 17 and desperate for the place I guess her heart ruled her head. thanks for the links - I hope she is still around to benefit from the 2.50hr in October

This does go on in veterinary practices as well, when I was training I was paid £50 per week to work 40hrs including a saturday. I went to college with girls though that were being paid the minimum £50 per week and working night shifts and long hours.

Thats shocking!.. 72hr week??!! and for 'just' over £1 AN HOUR!!

I'm speechless! 10/10 for dedication though.. the girl deserves a medal!

I thought you wasn't legally allowed to work over 48hrs a week over a period of 17 weeks?
